Re: Suicide Notes
Thank you Liam Casey for your passionate and revealing story about the secrecy around suicide. As the daughter of a suicide (my elderly mother) I appreciate the complexity of the motives, and consequences for survivors.
I hope you continue to write about this subject. Depression, I think, is a facile medical term that conceals more than it explains. Are suicides among the elderly disguised as accidents, or natural causes? And how many car accidents are suicides? What is the explanation for the suicide rate among First Nations children?
Good work!

Re: Standing on the Shoulders of a Giant
Dear Mr. Falconer,
Thanks for helping to produce a fine edition of the RRJ. I was pleased to receive the winter edition in December (instead of March), and I am reading it now.
I just finished reading Iain Alec Bain’s fine article on George Bain. I noticed, however, that Pierre Laporte is described on page 43 as Quebec’s justice minister. He was, of course, Quebec’s minister of labour.
Get those fact checkers to work!
Sincerely,
Franklin Carter
